In the 1800’s Thomas Huxley, a highly respected scientist and bulldog defender of Darwin, once said, “The great tragedy of Science – the slaying of a beautiful hypothesis by an ugly fact.” I should like to add to that: A great tragedy of life – the slaying of beautiful ideals and ideas by harsh realities.
